A Religious Survey

Many of us come from many different backgrounds and have different ideas and beliefs about religion. Some believe that there is no God, and others believe that when you die their bodies are buried and nothing happens after that. Still others believe that Religion is to organize and they don’t want to have anything to do with it. So, in this short survey, share your thoughts with others.

QUESTIONS

1- Because all words have meanings, what does the word Religion mean to you?

2- What does the word Christian mean to you?

3- What is the difference between a Christian and a Muslim?

4- What is the difference between a Christian and a Buddhist?

5- How many heavens are there, and what is each one?

6- What is the difference between the rapture and the second coming?

7- Why is your bible right and other religious bibles wrong?

8- Do you believe in the Trinity, if so what is the role of each of them?

10- When was the last time you shared your faith with a non believer?

11- What happens to your body and soul after you die?

12- If you believe in heaven and hell, what would you say to God if He asked you, do you deserve to go to heaven?

Take the time to answer all or as many questions as you can to this survey and let’s see how many different answers we get.

What is the meaning of purity

I have posted in the past on edreamright.com, purity rings for girls, promise rings and I’ll wait rings for our teenage children as well as for couples, but I thought it is very important to get a better understanding of what those rings really mean and even more a better understanding of the biblical meaning of purity, because all words have meanings.

Wearing a purity ring shows you, your mate and others that you have a religious vow to practice abstinence until marriage. Our young children need to be taught how dangerous it can be to have sex before marriage, which can lead to pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. But if we as parents can teach our children to make a purity pledge of abstinence until married it will help to save them from harm.

The dictionary meaning of purity is, the lack of dirty or harmful substances, lack of guilt or evil thoughts, freedom from spiritual or moral defilement, cleanness, chastitly.

The Biblical meaning goes so much further. These are just some of the verses the bible teaches about purity of the heart.

Matthew 5:8- Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Titus- 1:15- A person who is pure of heart sees goodness in everything and everyone.

Philippians 4:8- What should we focus on, Things that are pure and lovely and dwell on the fine and good things in others.

Purity includes concerns for the needy.at

James 1:27- Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this, to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

The biblical meaning of sexual purity can be found in theses verses.

1 Corinthians 6:18- Flee from sexual immorality.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5- The will of God is that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust.

Colossians 3:5- We are called to put to death what is earthly in us, sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

In Romans 12:2, speaks about a purity test. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

So, how many of us as adults are teaching our children or young adults the meaning of purity, of being abstinence until marriage? How many of us as adults are practicing the true meaning of purity by having a pure heart, by looking at the good in others, by being there for those in need including the orphans and widows? I am so far from being perfect but I am a work in progress, what about you? Share your thoughts on this post.

A Quiet Place

Have you ever gone to bed at night telling yourself that tomorrow is going to be a do nothing day, you are going to sleep late and just relax, no plans on fixing anything, no plans on going shopping or visiting anyone, and everyone is going to eat the left overs because you deserve this day of relaxation?

“BUT” that next day reality shows up early in the morning with a phone call from one of your children who was planning on going on a trip and had to catch an early plane but for some reason their car wouldn’t start , so can you please come to take them to the airport. So much for sleeping in.

You get back home from the airport to find there is a lot of water on your bathroom floor, now you have to find and fix it or call someone in to do it which means it’s going to cost you money that you wasn’t planning on spending out of a budget that was already stretched and now you also have to wait around until the repair man shows up.

You may look towards heaven and say to God, “ God why me, all I asked for is just one day of doing nothing, why can’t you understand that?”

But looking at your situation from biblical perspective, Jesus wants you to have peace. He knows the value of calm.

Sometimes when our days don’t turn out like we plan, we become upset, angry and sometimes weak to the point of saying to ourselves, what the heck, I might as well go do some of the things that I said I wouldn’t do, because who else cares, and all others are just  just thinking about themselves not me.

Jesus wants us to have peace and to relax, but even He and his Apostles were interrupted from resting.

In Mark 6:30-34 reads, The Apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to Him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, Jesus said to them,” Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all towns and got there ahead of them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So He began teaching them many things.

We might have our own plans, but others may not know or care what those plans may be.

Hebrews 4:14-15- Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet was without sin.

God knows our thoughts, it’s as if He knows that we will say, “ God its easy for you up there, You don’t know how hard it is from down here.” So He boldly proclaims Jesus ability to understand. Look at the wording again.

He himself, not an angel, not an ambassador, not an emissary, but Jesus himself, SHARED FULLLY, not partially, not nearly, not to a large degree, ENTIRELY, Jesus shared fully. In all our experience, every hurt, each ache, all stresses and all the strains. No exception, no substitutes. Why? So He could sympathize with our weaknesses.( Taken from in the eye of the storm )

So when you get down and your plans change for whatever the reason, remember that sometimes God has other plans for you, and most of the time it involves helping someone else.

A Servant’s Heart And Spirit

Each of us who are Christians or say that they are Christians should practice to be more like Jesus, who practice and walked of this earth with a servant’s heart.

My pastor, David Garcia of Grace World Outreach Church in Brooksville Florida, last Sunday spoke and taught about, having a servant’s spirit, and I thought about my life and the people that I come into contact with daily whether they are Christians or not, and I decided to write this post and have you as a reader question yourself and your spirit, but first let’s get an understanding of what is a servant’s spirit?

A servant’s middle name is generosity. How generous are you? I find that most people are very selfish. A servant gives without expecting anything in return. This is the kind of person you want to be like.

A servant has a sympathetic spirit towards others and not think about themselves first.

A servant rejoices when someone else is blessed, not get envious because of their blessings. A servant is good.

A servant reminds people of the character of Jesus, who came and shed his precious blood, and He took upon Himself all our sins and sufferings for you and me and died a brutal death, yet He rose on the third day so that you and I could be saved and all our sins would be forgiven and that we will spend eternity with our heavenly Father.

A servant is a peace maker. They are the ones who try to step in and correct a wrongful situation.

A servant is a team player who appreciates to receive correctness in his life.

And finally, please think about this question before you answer it and please be honest. Do you leave people very happy when you leave them, then before you was with them?

Take the time to share your thoughts with others.

Purpose

What is your purpose in Life? Do anyone of us know what that may be? When it is time for each of us to leave the world as we know it, what legacy will we leave behind for our children and love ones? What do you think people will say about you or what do you think they will miss about you or will they miss you at all? How we live our lives will determine the answers to these questions.

I have given this a lot of thought about my own life, and I have come to the conclusion that I think that God has placed me here to be helpful to others and not to be a selfish person. The legacy that I hope to leave behind is to follow my example in not putting themselves first as a selfish person would do. But we must also understand for those who dedicate their life to helping others, they must realize there will be people including family members that will sometimes take them for granted and sometimes even use them to their own advantage, but never the less, the calling that we have inside of us will not allow us to change who we are to become someone who we don’t even like.

If you have young children, are you teaching them to respect others as well as respecting their own bodies and their future mates by waiting to have sex until they are married. Also teaching them there will be those who will try to degrade them, embarrass them and do what ever they can to break their spirit. We as parents must teach our children to remain pure, and to not make the same mistakes that some of us as made.

I have made many mistakes in my life and if I had the chance to relive it, I would have done things so much different and that is why I felt it so important to write this article about what legacy will we leave behind, whether you are a Christian or not.

If your parents are still alive or no longer living, what do you remember the most about them, what legacy did they leave for you?

One day someone will ask your children or love ones, what legacy did you leave behind for them and what do they remember the most about your life with them?

As we grow older and hopefully wiser and take the time to look back at the life we have lived so far, what if anything would you have done different?

We can’t go back, but we can make a difference now, yes right now in what we can do today. Let’s live our lives as if Jesus was sitting next to us. Let’s take the time to help others, and too develop the minds of our youth’s, because they are the future. Look around and look where we are headed. Everyone is doing their own thing, doing what feels right for them at the moment, not thinking about who they may be hurting, thinking about me, me, me. Its time we turn all that around.

As I woke up this morning from a dream, the only thing that I remembered from the dream was something that I kept saying over and over, “ My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and His righteousness.”

So getting back to the question, what legacy will you leave behind, Take five minutes and stop whatever you are doing and just think about the question, and be honest with

your answer. Will your legacy last for an eternity or will it be just a fleeing thought?

Another Perspective on Parents and Childrens

When Parents Become More Like Friends to Their Children than Who They Really Need to Be

Being a Christian parent can be extremely hard. Sometimes life will breeze by but there are so many times when you have got to be the hard-nosed parent which will almost make you feel hated by your child. When parents feel like their child is pushing them away because they feel they are being unfair, this might cause a parent (or both) to step back and give in to their child’s wishes.

What Happens to Children When a Parent Steps Out of the Authoritative Role?

When children begin to see that their parents have started being more like a friend to them, they will change too. At first, it will feel like everything is grand and going great, but things will change whether you notice it at first or not. Your child will start taking advantage of you and your kindness. If you say no to anything after they have heard a yes for everything, you will probably see your child throw a tantrum as a friend-only parent will bring up spoiled children. You will notice that a child that doesn’t have an authority figure in their lives will begin to take their spoiled attitude to the outside world. They will expect others to give to them the way their parents do and will have a bad attitude if they are told any different.

Your child will begin to expect everything and in return they will not feel as though they have to give anything. You can forget about being able to control them after a while of living under no rules because they will set their own rules. They will not take a second thought about breaking any rules because to them, they will feel as though rules do not apply to them.

There is a Time for Both Characteristics: Parent & Friend

Both of these roles are important to bringing up a well-rounded Christian child. Just because you have to put your foot down on certain things, does mean there cannot be time for fun, games, and bonding. Children, whether they like it or not, whether they know it or not, really need authority. They need to learn how to obey parents and to understand that there are consequences to disobedience. If they do not learn it while they are young, the will have a hard life when they are older.

Spend time with your children, making them feel important, but make sure they understand they are the kids and you are the boss. There should be as much quality time spend with your children as possible. This will create a family bond that is unbreakable. They will see the fun side of you and will feel the love you have for them.

When you do have to discipline your child they may not like it and their attitude may say they hate you (if they do not say it out loud in the heat of their emotions), they will respect you. The respect show instantly, but it will. Children who have a structured home with rules and consequences do better in society when they are adults. Remember always to explain why you are disciplining your child before you do it and afterwards too. Once they have a chance to calm down ask them why they were disciplined and what they did in order to have to be disciplined. Making sure they understand will help them see what they did wrong so that hopefully they will not do it again. Also, make sure to reassure them that you love them and explain why you have to discipline them for that type of disobedience. Helping them understand why you are doing what you do will help them understand that you are not doing it because you dislike them, but because you love them.

When Parents Stop Being Parents

The role of a parent couldn’t be more important. It’s their job to discipline their child, fill them with self confidence, and put them on the right path to becoming a good person.

As there is no blueprint to being a good parent, many decide to do it their own way. While some do amazing jobs, others fall into common traps. One of those traps is becoming a friend to your child, rather than remaining as their parent.

While this may seem like a nice thing to do, especially as doing this helps you bond closely, it actually does your child more harm than good. Here’s why.

Your Child Needs to Learn About Authority

Children have many negative influences around them, which is why they need somebody to be firm with them in order to keep them in line. Peer pressure may be responsible for them doing something they wouldn’t do otherwise, meaning a child needs to know there’s punishment involved whenever they cross a line.

Friends Don’t Discipline Each Other

When your child steps out of line, he or she will need to be disciplined. How you discipline your child is up to you, but what should remain consistent among all parents is that some form of discipline takes place.

When you put yourself on the same level as your child, you become their equal, not their guardian. It can be extremely hard to discipline them in this situation, meaning you face an awkward experience yourself if you want to do the right thing.

Your Child Needs to Grow

A child-parent bond can never be broken. But just because it’s extremely powerful, it doesn’t mean that it’s all your child needs.

He or she should seek out other fulfilling relationships, with friends, and when older, with lovers. These people should be who your child shares their hopes and dreams with, which is the healthy thing for any young person to do.

Your Child Needs to Make Their Own Mistakes

If your child listens attentively to every word you say, their emotional growth is going to be stunted. Part of life at a young age is making mistakes. While you don’t want your child to go off into the deep end, you do want them to experience what it is to fail at something. This teaches them maturity, and will help them develop their own moral compass. Your goal isn’t to protect your child until they become an adult, it’s to help them grow into a fine young man or woman.

Traditional Roles

As traditional roles blur in our modern society, it’s even more tempting to become a friend to your child. Know that your child doesn’t need friends, though. They almost certainly have plenty.

What they do need is a parent. They only have two of those, and will never have others. So play the role of parent to your child. It will allow each of you to do the job for each other that God intended you to do.

Some Bible verses to live by-

Proverbs 22:6– Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Exodus 20:12– Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Ephesians 6:4– Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Proverbs 13:24– Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.

Hebrews 12:7-11– It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

There are many more Bible verses that could be added to the above, but my point is we must love our children  in spite of  their ups and downs. Remember that long ago, you were  your parents  joy and sometimes nightmare.

The Fire and Heat from Hell

Recently I posted a question and even offered a free gift from www.edreamright.com to the first person who could answer the question, IS THE HEAT AND FIRE FROM THE VOLCANOES, AND HOT SPRINGS THAT ARE COMING FROM THE OCEANS, BE COMING FROM THE PIT OF HELL? And I asked that whoever answered, to give Bible verses to back up their answer. Surprisingly, no one answered the question. After doing my own research, I found some interesting verses and even discussions from scientists. These answered were taken from two sources- Liberty Gospel Tracts, questions and answers and a post by Samuel M Wanginjogu, Do Heaven and Hell exist.

An interesting verse is Isaiah 5:14, which says, “Therefore HELL HATH ENLARGED HERSELF, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.”   Among scientists, there is much discussion as to whether the earth is expanding. Some say that in the oceans, new volcanic material keeps being added along faults in the crust, expanding it little by little.  I am not a scientist, and realize that much of what is called science, is not true at all.  1 Timothy 6:20, 21 says, “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and OPPOSITIONS OF SCIENCE FALSELY SO CALLED:   Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.”

STRANGE WORMS CALLED RIFTIA DISCOVERED BY SCIENTISTS

There are strange giant tube worms that were discovered by scientists just recently. These worms are unique in that they are capable of surviving in total darkness, do not eat, can live in extremely hot temperatures below the surface of the earth and can survive in an environment full of sulfur(in fact sulfur is their source of livelihood), the chemical that fuels fire in hell according to the bible. All these characteristics are found in hell.

The scientist discovered the worms under the sea around hydrothermal vents, which are rather like small volcanoes occurring under the sea.

So the question is could riftia worms be the ones found in hell? The verdict is yours.

According to the last paragraph of this article, hydrotherms are temporarily in nature. Old ones die and new ones appear and wherever they appear, so do these giant tube worms. Hydrotherms are also found hundreds of miles apart and this may mean that the worms cannot move from one hydrothermal vent to another. What this might imply is that the worms come from deep inside the earth from where they are brought forth to the floor of the ocean by the hydrothermal vents.

The verdict is yours as to whether these worms are the actual ones found in hell. However, remember there are worms in hell as stated in the bible and as testified by those who have gone there and back and their work is to torment the lost souls.

According to the book of Isaiah and Mark, there are worms found in hell. The bible says in the book of Acts that Herod was eaten by worms even before he died. Could these worms that attacked Herod be the ones found in hell? Where did the worms suddenly come from? Note that the worms ate him before he gave up his ghost.

In both the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans, there are places where hot magma under the surface of the sea floor causes cracks in the Earth’s crust. Sea water seeps into these holes, only to be forced out as mineral rich, warmed geysers into the cold, oxygen rich, deep ocean water. These unique springs are known as hydrothermal vents.

The interior of the earth fits the description of hell, because it is HOT there. Luke 16:22-24 says, “And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and COOL MY TONGUE; FOR I AM TORMENTED IN THIS FLAME.”

The interior of the earth fits the description of hell, because it is described as a LAKE (the earth being a molten lake of lava, fits perfectly with the hot, dark, lake of fire). Revelation 19:20 says, “And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were CAST ALIVE INTO A LAKE OF FIRE BURNING WITH BRIMSTONE.”  Revelation 20:10 says, “And the devil that deceived them was CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”   Revelation 20:14, 15 says, “And death and hell were CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE. This is the second death.  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.”

The Bible says that hell is enlarging herself. That is a fact. The Bible speaks of hell as being down, and of heaven as being up.  That is a fact.   The center of the earth has the characteristics of hell: darkness, heat, fire, etc.  God might be using the center of the earth for hell right now.  Job 28:5 says, “As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and UNDER IT IS TURNED UP AS IT WERE FIRE.”

I am sure there are many more verses about this subject, and if you have found some, please add them to this post, or if you disagree about where the fire and heat are coming from, please share your thoughts also.

The Best of Times, The Worse of Times

Each life is beautiful and for a purpose that no one knows at the beginning but as and when we go through life, we grow through life as well because we are tested each time we try to take a step ahead. This is the basic phenomenon of nature or in other words, this is how God tests the righteousness of a person. Each religion calls this statement in a different way but the underlying meaning remains same which is simple and yet hard to explain.

Each life is to experience different phenomena during its course and it depends upon that particular individual if he/she wants to treat it as the testing times or the good times. Good times are a relative term. For example, Nina had two apples, and for some reason she had to let go one apple and she is left with just one. Now Nina is sad and feels that she is going through her bad times. However, she doesn’t realise that she could have been in a situation where she would not even had one and she would have been required to struggle for that one apple and when she would have achieved that, she would have been overwhelmed because at that time the testing times would have been the times of struggle when she was trying to get that one apple and the result of those testing times was that fruit. This applies to almost all the situations in our lives.

There is nothing called a good life or a bad life. When God creates His beings, he sets a course for each one of them and each entity has to go through different phases in life, some can be termed as good and others can be termed as bad depending upon the impact they create in our lives. Generally, the events that we want to happen in our lives are termed as good and the ones that we do not want are classified as bad but what we fail to realise is that God is the superpower. He is omnipresent and knows everything. We are mere human beings and at times do not understand the relevance of good or bad in our lives but God can never be unkind to any of His children. He will definitely test you to see if you deserve that particular thing but would never deprive you of what you deserve.

Where did we go wrong

We take prayer out of our schools and I don’t hear any arguments or discussions about it, and I am very upset with our Christian community and even our pastors, because of not fighting for the right to bring prayer back to our schools. If there are people who don’t want to pray, that is their right to not do so, yet here we are arguing about taking down the confederate flag. If this flag represent the right for others to own slaves, why in the world would it be allowed on any state building, regardless of how many people have died for the right to fly the flag. Yes, people have the right to have and fly that flag in their homes or front yard, but it should never be on, in, around or over any government building.

And now the Supreme Court have ruled that Males can marry Males and Females can marry Females. I believe a marriage should be between a Male and Female only. And let me make it clear, I am not against Gay or Homosexual people. I believe that everyone has the right under our laws to designate who to leave whatever they may have when death is near, or to have someone be able to sign whatever papers that need to be signed when they are incapacitated. What you do in your bedroom or in your mind is between you and God, but I also know what the Bible says, Jesus said in Mark 10:6-9 ” At the beginning of creation, God make them Male and Female, (7) For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife., (8) and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one. (9) Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

I believe Children receive better balance in life on how to become men and women when there is a male and a female in the home. Unfortunately in to many homes today, the males are missing and I believe that some of that has lead to where we are today.

Same sex marriage may sound good to some, but that doesn’t make it right in the sight of God. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 7:2- But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each women her own husband.

Let me also make it clear that it is not only the homosexual that will not get into heaven. Listen to what it says in 1 Corinthians 6: 9-10- Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived, neither the sexually immoral nor the idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders (10) nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. So what the Supreme Court did was not a blessing as many may think, according to God. God loves each and everyone of us, and He wants us to repent of our sins and trust and have faith that He will forgive us and bless us with whatever our needs are according to His glory. There are no big sins or small sins in the eyes of God, a sin is a sin so I am not saying that being homosexual is at the top of the sin list. A person who constantly tells lies, or someone who steals a dollar is just as guilty as the bank robber, a sin is a sin and we are all sinful but because of God’s grace and mercy He will forgive us if we confess our sins and repent from them.
